As the entry-level qualification for the Early Childhood industry, our Child Care Courses provides students with a great foundation for a fulfilling career path.
Graduates will have extensive professional knowledge as well as the practical skills necessary to become a successful educator in either a centre-based service or in family day care. Students will also have the opportunity to continue their studies with the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
The outcomes for this course are the achievement of knowledge, skills and attributes to fulfil the role of workers in a range of Early Childhood Education settings who work within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They support the implementation of an approved learning framework, and support children’s wellbeing, learning and development.
This qualification reflects the role of educators in early childhood education and care who work according to the requirements of the National Quality Framework.

The learner group for this qualification are people wishing to gain a qualification in order to work with children in an approved ACECQA provider such as a registered Early Learning Centre, Occasional Day centre or as a Nanny. The learner group are those who require a structured, classroom based program with significant practical experience.
This is an entry level course and no previous skills or experience are necessary.

The learners’ physical attributes may influence their ability to complete the training and assessment. Assessment and training requires students to be physically capable of performing personal childcare for children, lifting and cleaning. They must be able to sit on the floor or on small chairs and be able to squat or bend in order to get down to a child’s level.
Students need to be able to relate to children and their families, have a keen interest to assist children to learn, good problem solving skills, sound literacy and numeracy skills, enthusiastic, tactful, patient and a sense of humour.
The course is aimed at students 18 years of age and over as students under this age will not find work in approved child care centres in most states of Australia.
