The learner group for this qualification are people wishing to gain a qualification in order to work in the sport and recreation industry in a management or organisational capacity. These individuals have a high degree of autonomy and manage the effective provision of services or programs in locations such as fitness centres, sporting grounds or complexes, leisure and aquatic centres and community recreation centres. They have knowledge of relevant local and national health networks, and the skills to build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
The learner group are those who require a structured, classroom based program with significant practical experience.
The General Stream is an entry level course and no previous skills or experience are necessary.
Entrants must have:
Students need to be able to relate to clients of differing ages and backgrounds, have a keen interest to assist clients to reach their exercise goals, have good problem solving skills, sound literacy and numeracy skills, be enthusiastic, tactful, patient and have a sense of humour.
The course is aimed at students over 18 years of age.
