Gaming is a massive industry, generating billions of dollars of revenue worldwide. With advances in technology, games continue to evolve, and offer more lifelike experiences for users. Many gaming companies are willing to invest heavily in the development phase given the sales history of other games. Organisations are also using gaming principles as an entertaining and effective way to communicate information. With applications far beyond computers and gaming consoles, gaming principles are being used in educational settings, in the medical and healthcare industries, and in market research, to name a few. Developing interactive ways to engage with consumers has huge potential.
From conceptualising to programming and design, gaming courses arm students with the skills and knowledge they need to be successful in this demanding industry. Students will learn how to work from a design brief, and how to manage projects, networks and databases. Students who are creative will learn more technical skills, such as design multimedia and software expertise. Graduates may work in games design and development, software design and development, multimedia development, and more.
