Motor Mechanic role involving diagnosis, repair and maintenance of vehicles using appropriate tools and equipment.
Key responsibilities
• Perform pre-purchase and safety inspections to assess the mechanical condition and roadworthiness of vehicles
• Diagnose and repair air-conditioning, cooling and fuel system faults using appropriate tools and equipment
• Inspect and maintain vehicle tyres, wheel alignment, batteries, belts, hoses and other components
• Liaise with parts suppliers to identify, order and source appropriate replacement parts and components
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools and testing equipment
• Conduct routine servicing and preventative maintenance of vehicles
• Repair and maintain braking systems, including brake pads, discs and callipers
• Inspect and repair steering and suspension systems
• Service and repair vehicle transmission and clutch systems
• Carry out engine repairs, adjustments and component replacements
• Identify faults and provide recommendations for necessary repairs and maintenance.
• Maintain accurate service and repair records.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and workplace safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop and properly care for tools and equipment.
• Communicate with customers and/or supervisors regarding vehicle faults, repair requirements, and completion of work.
• Ensure vehicles are returned in safe and roadworthy condition. • Assist with general workshop duties and other mechanical tasks as required.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, lifting equipment and workshop machinery safely
• Ability to read and interpret vehicle service manuals, technical information and manufacturer specifications
• Ability to maintain accurate records of inspections, servicing, repairs and parts used
• Ability to communicate with customers and supervisors regarding identified faults and recommended repairs
• Knowledge of WHS, environmental, workplace and manufacturer requirements when carrying out mechanical work
