Motor Mechanic

About the role

1087 Garage is an automotive repair and maintenance workshop in North Melbourne. We provide professional vehicle servicing, mechanical repairs, diagnostics and maintenance for a wide range of passenger vehicles. We are looking for a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic to join our growing team in a full-time, permanent role of 38 hours per week.

What you'll do

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment and testing procedures
• Inspect, maintain, service and repair petrol and diesel vehicles
• Repair and replace engine, transmission, braking, steering and suspension components
• Perform scheduled servicing, oil changes and preventative maintenance
• Diagnose and repair cooling systems, fuel systems and vehicle electrical systems
• Conduct road tests to identify faults and verify completed repairs
• Interpret technical manuals and manufacturer specifications
• Maintain accurate service and repair records
• Make sure all work complies with workplace health and safety requirements
• Maintain workshop tools, equipment and a clean working environment

About you

• Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or an equivalent relevant qualification
• Preferably a minimum of 3 years of relevant automotive mechanical experience
• Strong knowledge of automotive mechanical systems and fault diagnosis
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• Current driver's licence preferred
